The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Basic Function of the Position – The Travel and Visits Assistant provides direct, general support for personnel assigned to U.S. Consulate General Sao Paulo, in travel and visit support, as well as teaching employees and EFMs how to submit work orders. This includes assisting with a wide range of travel authorization issues, travel voucher questions and E2 account issues. The Travel and Visits Assistant provides first-level support to all users and more in-depth assistance and orientation to infrequent users of E2 or post travel services or those without an arranger. The Travel and Visits Coordinator also assists the Management Section in planning, coordinating, and organizing official visitors and conferences, events, VIP visits, CODELs and STAFFDELs to U.S. Consulate General Sao Paulo, Brazil. This position also backs up other CSC positions as needed.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  Experience in a customer service environment is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Knowledge of office management controls and customer service. Familiarity with regulations and institutions applicable to diplomatic travel, shipments and clearances procedures.

Education Requirements:

College or university studies.




Level IV (fluent) reading/writing/speaking in English is required.
Level III (Good Working Knowledge) reading/writing/speaking in Portuguese required.

This may be tested. 


Excellent written and oral communication skills; superior organizational, analytical, and planning abilities; calm, mature and controlled manner, and sensitivity to cross-cultural issues. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, taking initiative, exercising independent judgment and making sound decisions, frequently with minimal direct supervision. Uses a high degree of independent judgment and problem-solving abilities. Leadership and team-building skills to coordinate, motivate, and develop staff. Thorough working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. This may be tested.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
