The U.S. Mission in Rio e Janeiro is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Motor Pool Supervisor in the General Services Office (GSO).

The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)

The incumbent manages a fleet of vehicles for the Rio de Janeiro Consulate and also oversees all vehicle related procurements to include including creating and adhering to a vehicle maintenance schedule and reviewing fuel purchases. The incumbent directly supervises one dispatcher and professional chauffeurs. Incumbent prepares official reports for all USG internal systems. In addition, the Motor Pool supervisor maintains internal controls for accountable items and acts as the main point of contact for any VIP visits to post.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE: Prior administrative experience is required, including experience as a supervisor.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the city of Rio de Janeiro and its environs and with other cities within the Consular District is required. Knowledge of local traffic laws, traffic patterns in the area, regulations and signals, safety practices is required.

Education Requirements:

  • A minimum completion of High School education is required.




  • Level III (Good Working Knowledge) reading/writing/speaking in English is required. (This may be tested)

  • Level III (Good Working Knowledge) reading/writing /speaking in Portuguese is required. (This may be tested)


  • Must have a valid local driver’s license category D.

  • Must be able to operate Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, the Internet and software applications of common use. (This may be tested)

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
