The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

The incumbent is designated as Class B Cashier for the Mission and primarily responsible for the receipt, disbursement, accountability, examination, safekeeping, banking and replenishment of cash and for the preparation of fiscal reports and the maintenance of the COAST Cashiering Accounting System. The authorized amount of cash advance for this position is $100,000 and annual turnover is in excess of $3.58 million. Incumbent maintains accountability for two alternate cashiers and seven sub cashiers.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  At least four years of experience performing a progressively responsible work with at least two years of experience in a finance related activity including accounting and disbursing or maintaining cash records.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Knowledge of local laws and practices for banking and financial institutions is required.

Education Requirements:

College or University Level diploma in accounting, finance or business administration is required.



English: Good Working Knowledge – Good vocabulary and understanding of grammar and able to construct sentences. Able to use English as part of normal work duties including having conversations with customers and answer questions.

French: Fluent – Able to use the language fluently and accurately, making only minor errors of pronunciation and grammar.  Able to conduct all work in English.  Almost as proficient in English as in your native language is required. As incumbent must be able to read and understand applicable cashier guidelines. Must also interact with Americans at post on a daily basis.

Bambara: Limited knowledge - is required as incumbent is expected to interact with Senior and working level banking contacts and local Embassy staff. Must be able to clearly explain USG rules and regulations and Post FMC policies to colleagues in local languages.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES Optional: Strong attention to details. Good communication skills. Must work with American staff as well as local staff. Highly computer literate, with solid command of Excel and other Microsoft applications. A sharp sense of customer service is also required.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Bamako/Mali may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
