The U.S. Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Specialist (Sexual Prevention) at Centers of Disease Control (CDC).

Duties

The job holder is responsible for the coordination, management, monitoring and evaluation of the USG CDC Sexual Prevention activities required to achieve results under the U.S President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The job holder works under the supervision of the Prevention Team Lead to expand relationships with and provide technical assistance and oversight to host country government agencies and implementing partner organizations, including, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW), Tanzania AIDS Commission (TACAIDS), the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), Zanzibar AIDS Control Program (ZACP), Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Higher learning institutions, Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Faith-based Organizations (FBOs) in the implementation and strengthening of HIV prevention activities in Tanzania.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of working experience in HIV behavioral prevention activities (Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS programs) is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: In-depth knowledge of HIV prevention, including sexual HIV prevention is required.

Education Requirements:

Masters degree in Sociology, Public Health, or Behavioral Science is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing of English and Kiswahili is required. (This will be tested)

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
