Summary:

• The U.S. Mission in Cairo/Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Telecommunications Technician in the Information Resources Management Office. The work schedule for this position is Full Time - 40 hours per week.
• Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The incumbent performs a full range of activities to include cable network installations, modifications, maintenance, and repair of analog and digital telephone switching systems. The incumbent should have proficient knowledge of Fiber Optic and Ethernet cable structures and testing equipment. The incumbent will provide full maintenance and support to all Embassy residential phone lines at various locations such as, Maadi and Downtown.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Three years of experience in telephone/data wiring and equipment is required.


 


 

Education Requirements:

Two years of college studies is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  


Good working knowledge in reading/speaking/writing of English is required. “this will be tested”


Fluent in reading/speaking/writing of Arabic is required. 


SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Possess technical expertise in the use of test meters and test equipment, read schematics, work on electrical circuits, circuit boards and line cards.


Should possess mid-level supervisory or managerial skills necessary to direct two or more subordinate technicians.  Driving license is required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Cairo, Egypt may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
