Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Cairo, Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Mail Room Clerk.


Final grade/step will be determined by Washington.


The work schedule for this position is: Full-Time 40 Hours/week.

The incumbent is required to travel to the airport as needed.

Duties

The incumbent performs a variety of tasks associated with postal operations in the Cairo Embassy Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) to include pickup, delivery, process, physically screen, and distribute both personal and official mail/packages. Additional duties include the associated clerical and administrative transactions necessary to receive and dispatch mail. The incumbent also assists in receiving, processing, escorting, and dispatching classified pouch mail, and maybe called upon as a security escort to uncleared personnel within the Controlled Access Areas (CAA) in the Embassy.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years in a customer service-oriented position or with mailroom general postal experience is required


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 


Computer knowledge, ILMS, Microsoft office package and reporting procedures.


Individuals must be able to lift and carry 70 lbs.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school required.


 

Evaluations:

Language Proficiency:  Level III (good working knowledge) in writing/reading/speaking is required. 


Applicant must identify English language proficiency level in the application to be eligible for the job. This may be tested.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:


1. The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.


2. Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for the employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.


3. All candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Secret clearance.
