Summary:

The Foreign National Student Intern Program is open to all qualified Mozambican students attending or within 1 year of having graduated from a University in the South African development Community (SADC.). This is an UNPAID 20 hours per week part time internship program.

Duties

The Democracy and Governance (DG) Team Program Assistant intern will provide support to the DG Team Leader and Program Support Specialist to strengthen program management information systems and ensure electronic files are well maintained, in coordination with the EDG Administrative Assistant. The Program Assistant may also be assigned special analytical projects in support of DG Team programming, and may additionally provide support to the EDG Administrative Assistant to enhance or develop new information management policies and procedures.


Duties to include:



  • Ensuring that EDG communication materials are up to date and readily accessible,

  • Working with the DG Team to implement a revises, institute electronic filing system,

  • Providing support to analytical and other tasks for the Elections Working Group,

  • Providing support to DG Team strategic planning, portfolio reviews, and monitoring & evaluation, as well as special democratic governance analytical projects,

  • providing support as needed to DG Team and the EDG Administrative Assistant to plan, schedule and support meetings, travel, and document management.


 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Volunteer or other experience in public or non-profit administration.


 

Education Requirements:

Recent graduate in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, preferably with a degree in political science, public policy, public management/administration, communications/media/journalism, or similar field; or a Mozambican student of a SADC university within one or two years of graduating, preferably with a degree in political science, public policy, public management/administration, or communications/media/journalism, or similar field.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 4 (fluent) of English (reading/writing/speaking) .Level 4 (fluent) of Portuguese (reading/writing/speaking). This will be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
