Summary:

The Tri-Mission Vienna is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for one Security Escort vacancy with an intermittent/WAE (while actually employed) schedule.  The employee’s hours will be based on the section's needs and may vary each pay period. Some pay periods may require full‐time work, others may require part‐time work, and still others may have no work at all. An employee on an intermittent/WAE schedule is paid only for hours actually worked.

Duties

Basic Function of Position


After initial training by the Regional Security Office (RSO), ESO, and the Facilities Escort supervisor, the incumbent ensures compliance with State Department security regulations regarding work performed by non-cleared workers in controlled access areas (CAA), limited access areas (LAA), and non-CAA space. The incumbent observes and oversees workers to prevent security compromises and ensures that only properly procured materials are used in such areas to prevent security risks. The incumbent reports suspected violations of security standards to appropriate Tri Missions security personnel. The incumbent documents all work completed in CAA/LAA space.


Major Duties and Responsibilities



  • Ensures compliance with DOS security regulations regarding non-cleared workers in CAA/LAA and controls workers access to sensitive areas. Learns from ESO/RSO what practices and equipment are potential security risks. Overserves and oversees workers to prevent security compromises in sensitve areas. Reports suspected violations of DOS security standards.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Performs inventory counts, updates and maintains parts and supplies in Facility CAA storage areas at Missions. Replenishes stock and assists with secure procurement of materials for CAA space. Works with Secure Procurement Officer to procure items for CAA storage areas and addresses requests from customers, Escort Supervisor, or Facility Manager.

    • Provides oversight, notes and reports contractors quality assurance issues to supervisor.

    • Submits ILMS/Ariba requests for petty cash or use existing BPAs for CAA Random local procurements. Responsible for completing WOs and PMs in GMMS (Global Maintenance Management System) for inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency lights in CAA/LAA areas. Inputs Work Order requests or informs Facility Manager of maintenance issues seen during inspections or escort assignments, or communicated by customers, as needed.



  • Schedules work in coordination with LE Staff Facilities Maintenance workers to enure proper security oversight is available. 

  • Escorts in non CAA/LAA space as needed.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  6 months of work experience in a prior service oriented profession is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook calendar, email applications and city public transportation is required. This may be tested.

Education Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  English level IV (fluent) is required. This may be tested.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Vienna may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

* IMPORTANT:  Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification.  A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given. 


** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
