Duties

The Environment, Science, Technology, and Health (ESTH) Coordinator serves as the Embassy’s substantive expert on bilateral Environment, Science, Technology, and Health (ESTH) issues. Also advances U.S. ESTH policy in Jordan, makes and maintains government and private-sector contacts, coordinates information-sharing and reporting with the USG interagency community, and manages U.S. official ESTH visitors to Jordan. Drafts cables, outreach materials, and briefing documents for the Ambassador. Liaises independently with local government, USG interagency community, and local and international cooperating partners on bilateral ESTH issues. Oversees the Embassy’s regulatory-grade Air Quality Monitor, including routine maintenance and calibration, management of contractors, and procurement of supplies and services. Provides expert advice to the Hub office and Economic Section on bilateral ESTH issues. Independently manages ESTH projects and organizes representational events and meetings in Jordan. Reports to the Regional ESTH Officer.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of professional experience in policy/government, science/technology, research/analysis, economics, environmental issues, or business is required.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, business administration, economics, or international affairs is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Fluent English (speaking/reading/writing) is required. This may be tested.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Amman, Jordan will receive a in addition to their basic salary the following:

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
