Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Rio de Janeiro is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Assistant in the Human Resources Office.


The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).

Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Post’s Management Officer and indirect supervision of the Senior HRO in Brasilia, the incumbent manages specific areas of the Consulate’s U.S. Direct Hire Staff and Family Member Human Resources Programs. The functions performed include, but are not limited to: USDH position management and reporting; USDH arrival/departure program and accreditation; USDH performance management; USDH travel, allowances and benefits administration; USEFM and Seasonal Employment programs, US Intern Program, and security clearance processing for those selected to fill sensitive positions; and the USDH First and Second Tour Officer (FAST) program. 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in Management or Human Resources is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: The incumbent must have sufficient knowledge to be able to advise Section/ Agency Heads on USDH / EFM position management and State USDH performance management practices and policies.

Education Requirements:

  • College (2 years) or Post-Secondary School is required.


 

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) reading/writing/speaking English is required. (This may be tested)


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work with Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel and Outlook), SharePoint, and the Internet is required. (This may be tested).

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Rio de Janeiro may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

* IMPORTANT:  Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification.  A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given. 


** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
