The work schedule for this position is: Full Time 40 hours a week

Basic Function of the Position 

This position supervises and directs the daily operations and activities of a multi-trade section of 16 facilities maintenance workers that includes painters, welders, masons and carpenters. Position is located in the Facility Maintenance Section and supervised by the Residential Maintenance Supervisor.

Position performs supervisory responsibilities such as assigning work, provide job instructions, inspect work in progress for quality, provide work order completion reports, approves leave, provides training, coaching and counseling of subordinates, develop work requirement statements, participates in selection of candidates to be hired, recommends disciplinary action when warranted and rates performance on employee performance reports.

Performs project planning to include material take-offs, developing bills of materials and cost estimates, submission of procurement requests, preparing design sketches or drawings, coordinate sequence of work with electrical and mechanical trades and ensure that the proposed project will satisfy the customer’s request.

Requires safety compliance in the shop and work areas and monitors use of personal protective equipment and safety practices.

Responds to emergency calls after normal working hours for facility repairs.

Qualifications and Evaluations



4 years of progressively responsible experience (including 2 years of supervisory experience) in the
maintenance of buildings including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, millwork, masonry work, door
locks and hardware, drywall and plaster repairs and roofing is required.


Education Requirements:

Completion of high school (or host nation equivalent) is required. Completion of a vocational program or apprenticeship program recognized as producing journeyman level mechanical skill or equivalent experience is required.




English Level III This may be tested.

French or Bambara Level IV is required. This may be tested.  


Must be able to correctly use the tools of the trade, power equipment such as drills, hand tools, measuring devices, reciprocating saws, air compressors, aerial lift platforms, etc. Must be able to work at elevated heights on ladders, in a man-lift or bucket truck. Must possess computer skills, use email, calculator and other basic office equipment.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Bamako, Mali,  may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
