The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Under the supervision of the Procurement Specialist, incumbent serves on a team of Procurement Agents to acquire goods and services necessary to support all operations of the Embassy of the United States to Mozambique. The encumber services more than 500 customers from seven federal agencies operating in the Mission through acquisitions under the Simplified Acquisitions Procedures and some formal contracting.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years of Purchasing and/or logistics experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Job holder must have general knowledge of U.S. laws and regulations and knowledge of accepted business practices; Must have a strong working knowledge of the sections of Department of State and associated agency procurement procedures, instructions which relate to purchasing, and U.S. Federal specifications and standards related to such items.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing/Acquisition is required.


LANGUAGE:  Level IV (fluent) speaking/reading/writing English is required. This may be tested.
                     Level IV (fluent) speaking/reading/writing Portuguese is required.This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must have a good knowledge of local market practices and suppliers. Must be highly organized and detail orientated. Must be
proficient in word-processing, internet, email, Excel spreadsheets, and computer data entry and have keyboard skills for speed and accuracy. Requires valid driver's license-class B. Interpersonal skills, customer service skills, technical skills.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Maputo/Mozambique may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
