The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

The position is located in the Human Resources Office (HRO). The Human Resources Assistant provides visa, accreditation, and other HR services to Embassy personnel.

The HR Assistant acts as a liaison with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) / Diplomatic Protocol on issues related to accreditation of assigned American employees and their dependents.  Prepares application forms and diplomatic notes for registration with MFA/Diplomatic Protocol for American employees, family members, etc., for issuance of Bulgarian identity cards.  Provides day-to-day consultations on all kinds of accreditation questions to mission diplomats and other officials. Advises employees on Bulgarian registration requirements and border crossing. Prepares the mission diplomatic list into Bulgarian and English languages for submission to MFA. 

The HR Assistant advises and provides support with the issuance of Bulgarian entry visa with diplomatic passports. Works with MFA on solving any issues and in case of emergency situations. Supports VIP visits with any visa issues. Consults employees and family members about the procedures, documents, timelines for issuance of third-country visas. 

Provides support for other HR programs and policy administration.



Qualifications and Evaluations



Minimum three (3) years of work experience (full time equivalent) as administrative assistant, providing customer service is required.


  • Good knowledge of general office operations.

Education Requirements:


 Two years of college studies is required.


This may be tested:

LANGUAGE: English (fluent) Reading/Speaking/Writing and Bulgarian (fluent) Reading/Speaking/Writing required.  



  • Excellent computer skills and experience in using MS Office applications and Internet.

Agency Benefits:

For Locally Employed Staff, the U.S. Mission in Bulgaria provides a competitive benefits package in addition to the base pay salary.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
