Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Manila is seeking eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Machinist in U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) located in Tarlac. The work schedule for this position is:



  • Full Time (40 number of hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

Requires a good knowledge of standard machine shop practices and procedures. Does finish work on various types of metal and plastic materials, and fabricates complex and specialized mechanical parts used in 250,000 watts transmitters and auxiliary equipment. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all mechanical shop equipment including tool maker/grinder, lathes, milling, band saw, drill press, TIG welding, Oxy-acetylene gas welding and metal forming equipment. Aide the Transmitter Mechanical Supervisor in the planning of major mechanical modifications of the transmitting equipment including ancillary equipment. Assist in training and supervision of least three Contract personnel in the proper use of Mechanical equipment and precision hand tools.


 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years’ work experience in machine shop operation using all types of tools and methods related to this work is required.


 

Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: Completion of secondary education supplemented by technical school training is required.


 

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Writing English and Tagalog is required. English Language Proficiency may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Ability to interpret mechanical drawings is required. Must also have all operating and manual skills and abilities required of a machinist. This may be tested.

Benefits:

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
