The U.S. Mission in Riyadh, KSA is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Commercial Specialist for the Commercial Section. This position is open for nationals and residents of Saudi Arabia only. The applicant should hold a valid national ID or iqama.


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

The position is a senior professional analyst and advisor to the Senior Commercial Officer (SCO), Deputy Senior Commercial Officer (DSCO) and Commercial Officer (CO) in planning, organizing and administering Commercial Service programs to facilitate the marketing and export of U.S. products and services as well as the attraction of foreign direct investment into the United States. Using expert knowledge of the economy and bilateral trade relationship as well as of specific industry and service sectors, participates in post’s strategic planning. Applies this knowledge and expertise over a wide range of trade‐related activities of varying complexity, including Commercial Service products and services, events, counseling and research in order to maximize opportunities and minimize barriers for U.S. companies. Supervises two LES 10s, serving as their formal rater.




Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working with business or government sector or NGOs in field of marketing or economics or trade promotion or international trade is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of people-management skills/ techniques. In-depth knowledge of the Saudi economy, commercial and industrial structure, business and industry customs and practices, key import sectors, and trade and investment laws, regulations and policies. Thorough understanding of trade promotion goals, programs and procedures, and international marketing strategies.

ln-depth knowledge of U.S. business. Well-developed network of contacts in Saudi governments and industry.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in business management, international trade, economics, or marketing required.





LANGUAGE: Level IV English and Level IV Arabic mandatory. Skills will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must develop and maintain an extensive range of mid-to-high-level contacts in the host government and in the private sector; plan , organize, and execute complex commercial research projects and to prepare precise and accurate reports , embodying in-depth analytical evaluation, and render advise with detachment and objectivity , employing sound professional judgment . A valid Saudi Arabian driver’s license is required and ability to travel to the U.S. independently and lead trade delegation.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
