The U.S. Mission in Riyadh, Saud Arabia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Mailroom Clerk for the Information Management (IRM) Section. This position is open for nationals and residents of Saudi Arabia only. The applicant should hold a valid national ID or iqama.

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

The Mail Clerk conducts Embassy mailroom, Army Post Office (APO), and print reproduction operations under direct supervision of the LE Mailroom Supervisor. He/She is responsible for safely, securely, and accurately processing all incoming and outgoing mail. He/She must also process the receipt, safeguard, and deliver Embassy mail; including APO mail, local mail, express courier mail, newspapers, and unclassified diplomatic pouch mail. He/she provides print reproduction services and produces photocopy, laminate, printing, and binding services. As needed he/she may be required to work outside of normal duty hours or act as a backup telephone operator


Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE: One year of general clerical/customer service in an office or mailroom environment is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have or acquire a full understanding of USPS, MPS, APO, and State Department mail procedures and directives. Must become familiar with local postal operations, airport procedures, and courier operations. Must become proficient in the operation of mailroom, print room, office, and mail screening equipment. Must receive ESKAN military base access and a MPS mail clerk certification from ESKAN. Must receive US government vehicle driving certificate. The incumbent will be required to have the job knowledge listed above within 60 days from date of hire.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.


LANGUAGE: Level III English (good working knowledge; read/write/speak) is required and Level II Arabic (Limited Knowledge; Read/Write/Speak) is required. This will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary for reports and record keeping. Must maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with customers, external officials, and vendors. Must be able to work independently of supervision on a routine basis. Having ability to consistently and individually lift and carry up to 60 pounds is required. Must have a valid Saudi driving license.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
