The U.S. Mission in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Chauffeur for the Defense Attache Office (DAO). This position is open for nationals and residents of Saudi Arabia only. The applicant should hold a valid national ID or iqama.

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Incumbent serves as Embassy Chauffer, driving armored and non-armored sedans, pickup trucks, vans, suburbans and other vehicles to transport USG employees and dependents.  Incumbent is responsible for safe operation of vehicles, assessing the security situation/threat-level on the roads, and ensuring passenger safety.  The incumbent must also perform day-to-day preventative maintenance checks and services for vehicles and be able to identify mechanical deficiencies that degrade vehicle operation of affect performance.  The incumbent must keep detailed records of vehicle use.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE: Three years experience as chauffeur required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Incumbent must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns. Must know routes to major government offices, malls and other popular destinations. Must be proficient in use of GPS navigation. Must be able to read and interpret and apply information presented in driver manuals relating to vehicle usage/care. Must be able to read traffic signs and must be thoroughly knowledgeable of local traffic laws and regulations, as well as State Department safety regulations.

Education Requirements:

  • Elementary school education required.




LANGUAGE:  English and Arabic level II (Limited knowledge; read/write/speak).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Incumbent must be able to analyze and react to potential security threats on the street and handle problems at an accident scene. Must exercise good judgment involving the use and operation of a motor pool vehicle to ensure passenger safety in Saudi Arabia. Must prioritize runs, determine most expedient and safest routes. Must inform passengers of motor pool policy and ensure compliance. Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity to female diplomats/EFMs requiring transportation. Must have valid Saudi driver's license.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
