25% of time—MANAGE U.S. SPEAKERS BUREAU FOR MISSION TANZANIA. Identify, recruit, and register American Mission employees and EFMs for the Mission’s U.S. “Speakers Bureau” to offer English and Kiswahili (when possible) language presentations on various topics at Tanzanian educational and cultural institutions.
25% of time— FACILITATE PUBLIC OUTREACH PROGRAMS FOR THE INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTER (IRC). In coordination with the IRC Director and Cultural Affairs Team, identify Tanzanian secondary schools, universities, cultural organizations, and civil society institutions interested in either hosting or providing audiences for public engagement events that advance Mission Tanzania goals and objectives. Such events may include, but are not limited to, film screenings and discussions, visa information sessions, and presentations on American culture and society.
25% of time-- COORDINATE LOGISTICS FOR PUBLIC DIPLOMACY EVENTS. In coordination with PAS staff and event partners, oversee logistics for public diplomacy events. Additionally, the Coordinator will collaborate with PAS staff to amplify public events using Post’s website and social media tools. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, reserving rooms, scouting locations, arranging food and beverages if required, and developing detailed event scenarios.
15% of time—SERVE AS BACKUP MISSION PHOTOGRAPHER AND WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER. When required, take photographs at Mission events, both public diplomacy and internal. Select edit, and distribute electronic images to appropriate Mission personnel. Draft captions for photographs and submit to PAS leadership for approval and then update Post’s website and social media tools with photos and event announcements.
10% of time—MANAGE EMBASSY BRIEFINGS FOR VISITING GROUPS. Serve as primary point of contact for groups of visiting American university students and others that request briefings from U.S. Embassy Dar es Salaam. Reserve conference rooms and arrange logistics for such briefings. For specific groups, determine topical interest and recruit appropriate Mission speakers—both American and Tanzanian—to brief students and other groups.
