The U.S. Mission in Cairo, Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Assistant CLO.

Final grade/step will be determined by Washington.

The work schedule for this position is: Part Time 20 hours per week.

Assists the CLO in writing, updating and distributing pre/post-arrival materials for newcomers. Organizes Welcome Orientation, and Neighborhood Tours, as well as assists CLO with Community Sponsor Program to integrate newcomers into the Mission community and familiarize them with their new surroundings and the host culture. Assists CLO with Ambassador’s Welcome to Egypt program, four times annually. Creates and maintains data with information on local schools, nurseries, language lessons, consumer information, domestic help, etc.

Qualifications and Evaluations


Experience: 2 years’ experience in program development and implementation based on needs assessment surveys and utilization of data management skills.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma is required.


Language: List both English and host country language (s) proficiency requirements by level (II, II) and specialization (sp/read): English 4/4.

 Skills and Abilities:

Good judgment, strong initiative and the ability to work independently are required. Strong organizational skills, writing skills, strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills, and the ability to manage and disseminate a large amount of information are essential.

What is an EFM, USEFM, AEFM, MOH, etc?


1. The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.

2. Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.

3. Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.

4. Candidates must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
