The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

The Human Resources (HR) Assistant serves as the primary recruiter for U.S. Consulate General - Sao Paulo, coordinating recruitment, onboarding, out-processing and training programs for LE Staff and recruitment, onboarding and out-processing for American eligible family member (EFM) employees. Incumbent is supervised by the Human Resources Supervisory Assistant.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  Progressively responsible work experience in the field of H.R. management is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  In-depth knowledge of Department of State regulations and policies on recruitment and hiring. Comprehensive knowledge of 3 FAM, 14 FAM, 3 FAH, Standardized Regulations, and other instructions pertaining to recruitment/selection is required. Detailed knowledge of Brazilian labor laws on recruitment is required. A good working knowledge of acceptable business practices, office procedures and business correspondence formatting are required.

Education Requirements:

Two years of college studies required.


LANGUAGE:  Level 4 (fluent) of English (reading/writing/speaking); Level 4 (fluent) of Portuguese

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Good research and analytical skills are required. Ability to assess resumes and application materials against vacancy announcements. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Outlook/PowerPoint/Excel) programs is required. This may be tested. Ability to maintain and protect personnel sensitive information, to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision as necessary. Must be able to work under pressure. Must have the ability to draft correspondence in English and Portuguese and to translate from English to Portuguese and vice versa.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Sao Paulo may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
