Summary:

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties

Serves as the technical adviser to the Agricultural Counselor and/or Agricultural Attache, U.S. officials, and industry with regard to policy and market access issues affecting U.S. agriculture and food exports to the UK and Ireland. Coordinate the development Country Strategy Statement, providing input to USDA's strategic direction and operational decisions. Independently collects and analyzes standard to complex marketing information, trade statistics and technical data. Advocates for U.S. interests through contact with senior host government officials, industry, and academia. Initiates and implements outreach programs to deliver key messages to host governments and trade.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Progressively responsible work experience in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Policy, Commodity Trade, and/or Marketing Analysis/Research that includes significant analysis and report writing is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Expert knowledge of agriculture policies and programs is required. Knowledge of local laws and policies governing agricultural production and trade is required. Knowledge of government structure and responsibilities of various Ministries, congressional and legislative processes as it relates to economic, trade, and agricultural policy matters is required. Thorough understanding of FAS and USDA program goals and reporting requirements.

Education Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Marketing, Agriculture, Business, Economics, or International Policy.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Customer service, professionalism, networking, economic and quantitative analysis, innovation, judgment, communication, organizing and planning, teamwork, English language, writing, and ability to work independently. A UK/EU/EEA full valid driver's license required.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
