The U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, Indonesia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of USEFM Security Escort.

The work schedule for this position is: When Actually Employed/WAE (Intermittent Work Schedule).

The incumbent escorts facilities management crews and contractors in Controlled Access Area (CAA) and Limited Access Area (LAA) and ensures that all uncleared personnel are supervised during work and escorted out to the CAA/LAA upon completion of work. The incumbent must be able to work form heights and in variety of unconditioned non-office environments; may direct the work of contractors, maintenance, trades helper, and casual laborers with regards to security and safety. The position is on as needed basis, some after-hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Incumbent must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for a Secret security clearance. 

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  No prior work experience is required. 


  1. Has a basic understanding of the agencies, sections and facilities at the Consulate and Overseas Building Operations.                   

  2. Familiar with safe work practices and mishap reporting.  

  3. Understands applicable security regulations and procedures.

Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours

Education Requirements:

Mandatory: Completion of secondary schooling level is required. 

Please note that you need to submit U.S. education equivalency certification/transcript if you studied in a foreign college/university.


LANGUAGE:  Mandatory:  Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English is required. (This may be tested).

  2. Capable of multi-tasking to use hand-held radio and cell phone.

  3. Basic computer skills including operating systems, typing, and connections. 

  4. Must be observant, flexible, and service oriented.

  5. Able to stand for prolonged periods of time and perform somewhat physically demanding activities to include climbing, working in cramped spaces and at time working in inclement weather.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Consulate General Surabaya may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
