The U.S. Mission in Cairo/Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Shipment Clerk in the Department of Defense.
                - The work schedule for this position is: Full Time - 40 hours per week.

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Basic Function of the Position – Independently performs a wide range of material handling and operates aircraft loading and servicing different types of vehicles typically with a gross vehicle weight of over 32,000 pounds and uses forklift trucks up to a rated capacity of 10,000 pounds to move and load/unload materials on and off vehicles/aircraft and in/about warehouses, storage areas and loading docks. Provides chauffeuring functions as needed. Performs liaison duties through the American Embassy, the Egyptian airport security and the International Airport custom agents to expedite custom clearances and approvals for arriving/departing cargo, mail and passengers. Performs liaison duties with the Air Mobility Command personnel and host national airport contracting services to ensure that coordination of rental Aircraft Ground Equipment and aircraft servicing are prompt. Performs other administrative duties as needed. 

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  One year of experience in transportation, logistics, or customer services, including chauffeur experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns.

Education Requirements:

Completion of Secondary School.


LANGUAGE:  Level III ( good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing of English is required. (this will be tested).

Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing of Arabic is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must possess a professional driver's license at least third class. Ability to lift 40 pounds. Ability to locate vendors, compare costs and negotiate prices. Must have basic computer skills ( Microsoft Office).

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Cairo, Egypt may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
