• The U.S. Mission in Cairo/Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Passport and Citizenship Assistant in the Consular Office.
                - The work schedule for this position is: Full Time - 40 hours per week.
• Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

The incumbent acts as one of Post's Passport and Citizenship Assistants. He/she manages all services related to examining and transmitting applications, processing and issuing U.S. passports, passport cards and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA), as well as printing and assuring the quality of emergency photo digitized passports.  Incumbent is responsible for ensuring the prompt delivery of all documents and for handling requests for other citizenship services such as notarial services as well as assisting with special citizen services as needed.

Qualifications and Evaluations


Prior work experience: Three years of experience with work that involves analyzing, interpreting, and applying complex statutory regulations. Prior experience in working with a demanding public customer base is required.

Job knowledge: Ability to read and comprehend laws, regulations, procedures and practices that are relevant to job responsibilities.

Education Requirements:

A college degree is required.



Level IV (fluent) in speaking/reading/writing of English is required. (This will be tested).

Level IV (fluent) in speaking/reading/writing of Arabic is required.


Abilities and skills: Tact and diplomacy in dealing with host country government officials, including police and immigration officers. Ability to work under pressure and to provide services with objectivity. Ability to apply regulations correctly. English typing at level I (25 wpm) is required. (This may be tested)

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Cairo, Egypt may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
