 The U.S. Mission in Cairo/Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of HVAC Mechanic in the Facilities Office.


- The work schedule for this position is: Full Time - 40 hours per week.


• Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Basic Function of the Position – 

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and will perform maintenance and/or repairs for the chillers, coolers, air handlers, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment including window and split-type units, walk-in freezers, home and commercial type refrigerator and freezers and water coolers for U.S. Government facilities.

The incumbent will troubleshoot to determine the source of problems and make necessary repairs.  Incumbent must perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections for water air-conditioning systems to include condensers, evaporators, centrifugal compressors, cooling towers, fan coils and air handler systems.

The incumbent will disassembles equipment and adjust, repair, or replace defective parts or components to correct malfunctioning motors, compressors, cooling units, condensers, valves, relays, and controls.

The incumbent is responsible for removing  and installing windows and split-type air conditioners to include recovering refrigerant system.  Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance checks.

Qualifications and Evaluations



Two years experience in the maintenance and repair of central air condition systems and cooling and freezing units is required. 


Must have Working knowledge of the central air condition systems and safety protection practices.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.


LANGUAGE:  Level II (limited knowledge) in reading and speaking English is required. 

                  Level IV (fluent) in reading and speaking Arabic is required.


Must be able to read and interpret operation and safety procedures, understand operational drawings and technical publications and use the measuring/testing equipment, including test manifold, vacuum pumps, avometer digital clamp ampere, air speed gauges and air balance instruments, meager, electric leak detectors, etc.


Must be able to work independently. Must be capable of performing some heavy physical work and lifting.


Must have driving license.
