Summary:

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties

The incumbent supports the American officers working on Russian environmental issues and support existing bilateral cooperation. The incumbent accompanies American officers to meetings with host country officials to coordinate ESTH activities and to determine areas for exchange, possible training needs, development of reference handbooks and training materials, etc. Serves as the lead for office engagement with indigenous peoples and assists officers on the topics of forestry, national parks, botany, and wildlife trafficking. Assists visitors from the Department of State and other U.S. government entities.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience working on issues related to Russian government policy.


 


JOB KNOWLEDGE: The position requires knowledge of the operation of the Russian interagency and Russian government policy formulation. The position also requires familiarity and experience with the issue of Russia's indigenous people.  

Education Requirements:

A university degree in environmental science, natural science or social science.

Evaluations:

This may be tested.


LANGUAGE: Level IV fluency of both written and oral English is required. Level IV fluency in Russian is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong organizational and follow-up skills are required. Must be able to deal effectively with people both within and outside U.S. Embassy. Must have the ability to plan, organize and manage a project with limited guidance. Must be able to prioritize assignments. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, both in English and in Russian. Must be able to work under pressure and deal with overlapping tasks.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Russia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
