Duties

Basic Function of the Position 


The Information Assistant will serve as Embassy Photographer, accompanying the Ambassador and other high level visitors in order to take photos and shoot video. Sometimes the Photographer will be required to post digital products on social media while in the field. The Photographer will create/edit in-house video and photo products for use on Embassy social media properties. The person in this position will also serve as an Information Assistant at media events as assigned. He/She will contribute to the production of the Daily Press Report as requested.


 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: 


Two years of work experience (full-time equivalent) in public relations, cultural programs, and websites/social media with a particular focus on photography.


 


JOB KNOWLEDGE: 



  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of online and social media; journalistic practices and environment (Bulgarian, international, American);

  • Extensive knowledge in photography, digital editing, photo archiving and distribution.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degrees required in Political Science, International Relations, or  Journalism and Mass Communications.

Language level will be tested.


LANGUAGE:  Excellent English and Bulgarian required (Speaking/Reading/Writing proficiency level 4).


 


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Ability to operate photographic equipment and tools, and photo-editing software;

  • Ability to lift and carry photographic and other audiovisual equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds; 

  • Highly effective interpersonal skills;

  • Good organizational skills;

  • Excellent computer literacy;

  • Advanced level writing skills in English to draft correspondence, reports and other documents;

  • Ability to render clear and accurate translations between English and Bulgarian on various subjects;

  • Ability to travel within Bulgaria.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
