Duties

The incumbent functions as the Local Area Network (LAN) Management Specialist for the Unclassified Information Systems Center (ISC) in the U.S. Consulate General Chennai, India. This position is supervisory, senior of a four-person ISC and reports to the Information Programs Officer (IPO). The incumbent provides the highest level of customer service for the Information Management Technical Support Services cost center of International Cooperative Administrative Support Services (ICASS). The incumbent is responsible for the oversight and operations of the Local Area Network (LAN) software applications management and analysis, LAN users’ management support and training, LAN systems operation, maintenance and support, and with LAN Infrastructure. The total value of the unclassified computer and communications equipment in Chennai ISC is in excess of $1.5 million.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Five years recent experience as a Systems Manager of which two years must include supervisory experience.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Deep knowledge of communications infrastructure and network wiring, as well as technical skills in computer hardware maintenance is required. Advanced knowledge and administrative skills with Windows Server Administration, in a Domain Environment, Windows Active Directory, Exchange Server Administration, Windows Desktop. Advanced level knowledge and skills for MS Access, SQL, and MS Office suite applications is required together with extensive experience of general office administration, Mastery of System Management Server, and Cisco Networking Routers and Switches. CompTIA A+, Security+ and Network+, MS Windows Server, Sharepoint, Desktop, Active Directory, MS Exchange Server Administration and industry certifications are desired. Web page creation and maintenance is also desired.


 

Education Requirements:

Mandatory: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Science or equivalent. Cisco or Microsoft Certification – Systems Engineer, Database Manager or Software Developer.

LANGUAGE: Fluent in English and Tamil (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) - Please specify your proficiency level.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES Optional: Supervisory and managerial skills are required. Excellent LAN, Domain and Network Infrastructure Management and Administration skills to independently manage the LAN and WAN are required. Excellent technical troubleshooting skills of infrastructure and network as well as operating systems and applications are required. Excellent Interpersonal skills are required to enable interaction at all levels with LE staff and Americans, as well as local and regional personnel. Must be able to project and prioritize projects with a job horizon of six months in advance.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
