Duties

The incumbent serves as chauffer for Defense Attaché Office (DAO), attaches, staff members, eligible family members and visitors. Drives personnel to meetings, functions, ceremonies and events of official and representational nature both during and after normal duty hours. The Incumbent is directly supervised by one of the Operations NCOs.


El titular labora como conductor para la oficina de defensa (DAO), transportando jefes de la oficina, miembros del staff, familiares de americanos y visitantes. Conduce el personal a reuniones, ceremonias, eventos oficiales y eventos de representación durante y después del horario regular de trabajo. El titular es supervisado directamente por uno de los Oficiales de Operaciones.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum two years´ professional driving experience is required. / Se requieren mínimo 2 años de experiencia profesional como conductor.


 


JOB KNOWLEDGE/CONOCIMIENTO DEL TRABAJO:



  • An intermediate knowledge of the streets and traffic in Bogotá is required. Basic knowledge of auto mechanics is required. (This may be tested) / Se requieren conocimientos intermedios de las calles y el tráfico en Bogotá. Se requiere conocimiento básico de mecánica automotriz. (Esto podría ser evaluado).

Education Requirements:

Completion of high school is required. / Se requiere bachillerato completo.

  • English (Rudimentary knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. / Inglés (conocimiento rudimentario) es requerido.

  • Spanish (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. / Español (Buen conocimiento del idioma) es requerido.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES / DESTREZAS Y HABILIDADES :



  • A valid driver's license is required (category B1) Must have held a valid driver’s license for at least five years and must be able to maintain it valid; must be able obtain a bi-annual SMITH driving system re-certification and the corresponding medical certification. (A practical driving test will be administered) Applicants with expired licenses or in process will not be considered. / Debe poseer una licencia de conducción local válida (categoría B1), dicha licencia debe haber sido expedida con al menos 5 años de antigüedad y debe mantenerse válida, por otro lado, debe ser capaz de obtener una recertificación bianual del entrenamiento SMITH con las correspondientes re-certificaciones médicas. Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Bogota, Colombia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given. 


** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
