Duties

The incumbent serves as the Senior Systems Manager, with responsibilities for managing the U.S. Consulate General's OpenNet, Dar America and computer related connected at the Consul General's residence. Supporting all unclassified U.S. Government owned and operated computers that make up the DoS OpeNet Local Area Network (LAN) to include supporting all constituent U.S. government agencies assigned to the U.S. Consulate General Casablanca. The incumbent reports directly to the Information Program Officer for the day-to-day operations of the unclassified network. The Senior Systems Manager directly supervises the Computer Management Assistant, Telephone Operator and Mail room Clerk.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  At least five years performing progressively more responsible work of a programming technical or administrative nature in the telecommunication field and must have at least one year of supervisory experience in an Information Technology related position.


 


 

Education Requirements:

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Resource Management is required.

LANGUAGE:  



  • English Level IV ( Fluency) speaking/reading is required. (This will be tested)

  • French Level IV ( Fluency) speaking/reading is required. (This may be tested)

  • Arabic Level IV (Fluency) speaking/reading is required. (This may be tested)


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 



  • Requires skills in use of technical and administrative reference material in support of management responsibilities including: telecommunication systems design, equipment procurement, and financial and personnel management. 

  • Must possess a good understanding of the priorities of telecommunication and computer operations management and expert technical skills to diagnose and resolve problems, minimizing downtime and maximizing capabilities of computer systems.

  • Requires interpersonal skills to resolve customer service and personnel issues

  • Supervisory skills are required for systems operations and other ISC and R/T support staff

  • Require the ability to explain complex issues to management and personnel outside the telecommunication and computer field on such issues as workload prioritization and systems limitations, personnel support.
