Summary:

The U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro is seeking eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Locksmith in the Regional Security Office (RSO).


The work schedule for this position is:

Duties

Basic Function of the Position – Incumbent installs, repairs and/or replaces all types of locks as well as makes or copies keys, and changes combinations at all residences and Consulate buildings. Installs, removes and repairs post’s residential alarm systems. The incumbent reports directly to the Locally Employed (LE) Residential Security Coordinator and has no supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Prior relevant experience in making keys, changing combinations and changing locks including working knowledge of residential alarm systems required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Skilled knowledge of making copies of keys, changing locks, installing/uninstalling locks and combinations. Working knowledge of the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of residential alarm systems and relevant components.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE (This may be tested):



  • Level III (good working knowledge) in speaking/reading Portuguese is required.

  • Level I (rudimentary knowledge) in speaking/reading English required is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES (This may be tested):



  • Must have a valid local driver’s license category B.

  • Ability to use all tools for locksmith and residential alarm work.

  • Basic computer skills required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
