Summary:

The work schedule for this position is:

Duties

The incumbent will, under the supervision of the Procurement Supervisor, be responsible for acquisitions of commodities and services using the most appropriate procurement vehicle at the lowest priced with technical acceptability. The agent will provide procurement support for the Embassy, its associated agencies and satellite offices.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, business, public administration, finance,  supply chain management or logistics is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have a good knowledge of the local markets (construction, industrial, and commercial) business practices and of the capability and reliability of local suppliers sufficient to evaluate corporate financial status, adequacy of management, current commitments, and technical capability of a potential contractor is required. Must have intermediate knowledge of Jamaican and US markets being aware of procurement procedures with some shipping and customs experience, and online and overseas shopping protocols.

Education Requirements:

Two years of University studies in Business Administration, Economics, Logistics, Public Administration, or Supply Chain Management is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must have the ability to organize and manage time/duties effectively.  Must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.  Must have good customer service skills and be an effective team player. Must be able to use the Internet to search for potential sources and specifications and make online purchases. Must have a valid, current General drivers’ license minimum 3,000 kg.  Must have had a valid driver's license for a minimum of five (5) years.  Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills are required.  Must have demonstrated ability to apply regulations and procedures (public and private) to contract administration and management and have excellent analytical skills to assess quality and cost benefit to the government.  Intermediate to advanced negotiation skills. (THIS MAY BE TESTED).

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
