The U.S. Mission in Sao Paulo is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Clerk (Administrative Assistant) in the Community Liaison Office (CLO). 

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).

Provides administrative support to the Community Liaison Office. Receives, screens, and directs incoming mail and communications for correct distribution. Answers routine inquires personally or by phone or refers customer to appropriate sections. Coordinates with Consulate sections to secure required services. Coordinates office matters with various Brazilian entities, including local vendors, schools, international organizations and others.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  Prior secretarial or administrative experience in private or public sector is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Knowledge of English and Portuguese grammar, spelling and punctuation. Knowledge of administrative management functions. Knowledge of Consulate procedures and familiarity with general operational patterns of all US agencies in the Mission. Knowledge of the local environment including schools and applicable cultural and representational practices.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary (high) school is required.


LANGUAGE:  (This may be tested.) Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking Portuguese and Level III (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking English is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  (This may be tested.) Strong communication skills. Well organized, ability to pay close attention to details, to perform multi tasks and to take initiative and complete assigned tasks with accuracy and little supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and Power Point), Microsoft Outlook and Internet. Ability to draft basic office correspondence, use good judgment in performing administrative tasks, and provide quality customer service.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Sao Paulo may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
