The U. S. Mission in Colombo, Sri Lanka in seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Program Specialist in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

The work schedule for this position is: Full-time (number of hours per week- 40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin work within a reasonable period of time of receipt of bureau authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Basic Function of Position: Incumbent has three primary functions: supporting public outreach and events, including visitors; coordinating interagency corporation and supporting USAID engagement in donor coordination; and assisting in core Program Office functions including reporting and responding to taskers, data entry, managing VIP visits.

Qualifications and Evaluations


Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in management, program development, or program coordination.

Skills and Abilities:

  • The incumbent will be expected to: maintain contacts with officials of USG agencies and development partners; prepare program information into appropriate formats; plan, organize, and manage events and projects; and conduct desk research.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications.

  • Should be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance.

Education Requirements:

Completion of bachelor degree in liberal arts, public or business administration, political science, social sciences, development studies, international affairs, statistics, sociology, or natural sciences.


Level IV in English (fluent) is required for reading, writing and speaking. This may be tested.
