The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (48 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Must have a good working knowledge of the city of Tunis and surrounding commodities.


Basic Function of the Position: Then incumbent operates automobiles and light trucks as assigned. He is responsible for the appearance of his assigned vehicle and performs routine checks of the fluids (water, gas, oil) on daily basis. He is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE:  Three years operating light motor vehicles is required. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Safe operation of motor vehicles; knowledge of Tunisian traffic laws; good working knowledge of the city of Tunis and surrounding commodities; familiarity with the mechanical operation of motor vehicles. Can read signs and other necessary directions, must be able to fill in appropriate reports.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of Primary School plus three years of secondary school are required.



LANGUAGE: Level II (Working Knowledge) in English, and Level III (General Proficiency) in French and Arabic, speaking, reading and writing are required. This will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Possession of valid driver's license; ability to get on well with colleagues, supervisors, and Americans. Ability to present a neat and clean appearance. Ability to obtain and maintain the required physical exam clearance from the Medical Unit in accordance with State Department regulations

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Tunis, Tunisia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
