Summary:

The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).

Duties

Incumbent will function as a welder at the journeyman level and will maintain the metal structures, metalwork parts, ducting, piping, and seismic bracings at the U.S. Consulate General compound offices and U. S. Government owned and leased properties. S/he will ensure that the metal structures, drop down barriers, fences, doors, seismic bracings are in working order to meet the demands of Post’s infrastructure requirements. 


 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Three years of practical experience as a welder, fitter, or fabricator in construction and maintenance environment is required. 


JOB KNOWLEDGE:  The incumbent must have full journeyman knowledge of established practices and procedures in welding and metal works. Journeyman level knowledge of welding and metal work tools and of their repair and maintenance is required.  

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school (10 years of education) certificate is required. Completion of vocational training resulting in journeyman level skills is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Level II (Limited) Speaking/Reading/Writing English & Level III (good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Urdu are required. English language skills will be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The incumbent must be able to use pertinent power tools used in welding such as electric arc welding machine, gas welding machines, steel cutters, gas cutters, chain saw, pipe benders, vertical (JLG) lifts and boom lifts (Genie) and other miscellaneous equipment used in fabrication work. Ability to do basic planning and request necessary resources. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffoldings. Must be able to perform the basic paperwork involve in completion of work orders & routine work. Must be skillful when working as a team member. Must understand and comply with the on-call duty assignments. A valid Pakistani driving license for Motor Car/Jeep is required. Applicants must show proof that they have a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience. Skills and abilities will be tested.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:


1. Management may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.


2. Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.


3. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.


4. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold the local security certification.


5. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.


6. Current employees who have voluntarily been reassigned/promoted from one position to another are not eligible to apply for six months from the effective date of the reassignment/promotion.


7. Current employees who have received any job-related training are not eligible to apply in another section/agency for six months from the effective date of the training.


8. U.S. Mission Pakistan will not bear any travel expenses for testing, interviews, pre-employment clearances (if selected) or relocation for joining.
