Duties
The Digital Production Coordinator for graphics and design works under the direct supervision of the Strategic Content Coordination Specialist (SCCS) and has no supervisory responsibilities. Is responsible for the production of visual and multimedia elements of Consulate public engagement, with special focus on digital design, graphics, animation, and production support, including the editing and archiving of photo and video products. Participates in the design, creation and/or acquisition of customized visual and multimedia content which is disseminated online, in person or via traditional broadcast. Creates compelling visual content for all Consulate outreach materials by assessing visual aspects of India’s media environment, public preferences for visual content formats and dissemination channels, and the impact of Consulate visual materials.
This position is responsible for digital products that reach the complex audiences of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai, which covers the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and the Union Territories, with a population of 180 million. India’s social media landscape is on par with that of the United States, either leading or in the world’s top three followings on major platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp. South India has undergone a faster rate of economic growth than most northern states and is home to Bengaluru (Bangalore), India’s “Silicon Valley,” a principal source of Indian high-tech engineers who work in the United States.
