The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)

Basic Function of the Position:

This position, within the Facilities Management (FAC) section of the embassy, performs general electrical maintenance and repairs to office buildings of the U.S. Embassy compound and mission residences as required. Performs preventive maintenance on all related electrical systems and equipment. Responsible for medium and low voltage electrical power.



Qualifications and Evaluations



Position requires a minimum of at least 3 years of progressively responsible experiences in the operations and maintenance of electrical repairs in industry or commercial environment.


Must read and understand blueprints, sketches, electrical schematic diagrams, required trade manuals, equipment operation and maintenance manuals, and electrical and mechanical code books. Must know procedures of working on medium and low voltage electrical systems and transformers.

Education Requirements:

Completion of Secondary school; completion of vocational or trade school program in electrical and electronic systems producing journeyman skill level are required.




English level I is required, “This may be tested”

French or Bambara level II is required . "This may be tested."


Must be able to use the tools of the trade, power equipment such as threaders, conduit benders, drills; must be able to work at elevated heights or from an aerial work platform. Must be able to use electrical testing equipment such as ohm meters, meg-ohm meters, and other electrical component testing equipment. Must be licensed and able to drive a motor vehicle.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Bamako/Mali may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
